The ‘Dubai Cyber Think Tank’, launched late last year by Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC), is a first-of-its-kind collaboration in the Middle East, facilitating collective brainstorming of the Emirate’s finest cybersecurity experts to find innovative solutions to the ever-shifting cybercriminal landscape.

Through this pioneering and interactive platform, DESC and various leading private and public sector entities meet via high-level focus workshops to conduct research, analyse new ideas and exchange perspectives that can lead to the achievement of the group’s objectives.

Jassim Mohammed, Security Operations Manager at DESC, said: “The priorities of the Think Tank include confronting and resolving the current and future cyber challenges and risks, as well as contributing to the development of proactive policies and frameworks for the cybersecurity of Dubai.”

At the heart of the Think Tank is DESC’s strategic drive to form partnerships with all government entities and other leading organisations in Dubai, in order to work collaboratively to define and overcome the city’s cyber challenges.

Through the Think Tank platform, DESC, government departments, cybersecurity experts and participating private companies hold regular workshops and discussion meetings. Detailed reports are presented periodically, documenting the research findings and recommendations that will help in the continuous development and updating of strategies, policies and methodologies for fighting the scourge of cybercrime.
